Sounds familiar? Do you know there is a specific word to describe such a person.?

“Laconic” is an adjective that describes the use of a minimum of words, being concise to the point of seeming rude or mysterious. This term can be used to describe a person’s communication style, as well as written or spoken language. Examples of individuals who are known for their laconic communication style include stoic philosopher Epictetus and the ancient Spartan people, who were known for their brevity in speech. In popular culture, characters such as Clint Eastwood’s “Man with No Name” in the spaghetti western trilogy and Ron Swanson from the television series “Parks and Recreation” are often described as being laconic in their speech.

So, why would someone uses such communication style? Pick up Linguistics studies, as language is an integral part of all human activities, the study of linguistics provides a conducive platform for interdisciplinary discourse and research.
